Fact-checking and Source Policy

How official, secondary and historical information is classified and checked.

Information quality depends on both the source and the date. A current official admission guide normally carries more weight than an undated consultancy table.

Source order

1. Current official government or regulator material 2. Current official university prospectus, notice or fee schedule 3. Official university web pages or authorised documents 4. Reputable secondary sources used as working references 5. Historical material retained for context only

Verification records

Critical fields should record the source URL, academic year, verification status and review date. Conflicting figures are retained as separate records until the difference is resolved.

What remains uncertain

When a current official document cannot be confirmed, the website should state that verification is pending. An older listing or fee table must not be presented as permanent or current without qualification.
